The grip size for a tennis racquet is very important when choosing the racquet of your choice. The right grip size makes a huge difference in how you perform and your comfort level during a tennis game. To measure your grip size, hold the tennis racquet with an eastern forehand grip, where the palm is placed against the same bevel as the string face. You should be able to fit the index finger of your non-hitting hand in the space between your ring finger and palm. If there isn't enough room for your index finger, the grip is too small and if there is space between your finger and palm, the grip is too big.

Either with the grip being too small or too big, it will decrease your comfort level and will lead to pain or slight discomfort in the wrist, hand and/or the index finger. Even if it occurs rarely after a game or that the discomfort is negligible, one should consider in changing the grip size as it might be the cause to the problem. If such discomfort or pain is found, be sure to stop immediately and find a grip size that is suitable for you. There should be no reason that one should accommodate the discomfort as it might lead to permanent damage done to the body.

If you are not sure in how to perform the grip types that I have mentioned above, search in Google or Wikipedia for a more detail description or consult with your local Tennis equipment or Sport shops for instructions.
