The lengths of the tennis racquets are not chosen due to the level of expertise of the player nor the style of the player, but it is still very important to know what is the right length for the player as it affects the player greatly nonetheless. Although the racquets length usually varies little in size, it is very important in choosing the right length for your style. The legal standards in tennis tournaments reside in the range of 27 inches to 29 inches. Usually most racquets would be 27 inches. However, there are distinct advantages for longer racquets as it provides more reach on groundstroke, added strength on serves and more powerful smash as there is added leverage on the racket. Tennis racquets with longer lengths today would usually made it lighter to match the weight of standard racquets so that it would not have a weight disadvantage. In other words, there should not be disadvantages in using a longer length racquet.
In conclusion, when buying racquets, be sure to take in consideration of the lengths of the racquets as longer lengths have a reach and strength advantage but seasoned players might need to think twice in choosing long length racquets as it will take some time to get use to the feeling of the weight and additional length.
